The ultimate answer to stress

There are many common sense approaches to handling life's problems. The ultimate answer to stress is to listen to God. We face problems and stresses everyday. Some are small. Some have a major impact on our lives.

There are times when we can get through the issues and times when we are groping for ideas and wisdom. There are problems and stresses that we face everyday. There are also major crisis that take us to the limit of endurance.

In either case we are always searching for answers. These answers can come from others or from first hand experience. The best source of guidance, however, is from God's word and through a relationship with Him. The ultimate answer to stress is to listen to God. He is our creator and He knows what works best and is in our best interests.

This section talks about how to have a close relationship with him and how to conquer stressful family hurdles.

Created for relationship
The Bible tells us that God created everything that exists. This includes man which He created in His own image. This means that He gave us a conscience to know right from wrong and a free will to make choices. He also made man holy (without sin).

God designed us to have a close relationship with Him. He wanted to communicate with us and to meet our needs. He placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. God gave them instructions on how to live. He intended to have a have unending relationship with them in the Garden. He also gave one restriction. Not to eat the fruit from the Tree of good and evil.

Fallen away
Unfortunately, Satan was present in the garden. He tempted Eve who took the fruit from the forbidden tree. She encouraged Adam and he also ate the fruit. This was in direct disobedience to God.

It changed man, his environment, and his relationship with God. He was no longer pure and holy. They were separated from God because of sin. He looks at all mankind as having this sinful nature. And man's behavior shows this to be true.

Attempts to succeed
Man was designed to be close to God. The difficulties man faces makes it clear that man needs to be restored to God. The gulf between man and God is wide.

There are plenty of attempts to bridge this gap by being good. These inevitably fail. There is no way for man to get right with God on their own strength. God requires perfection.

Coming back to God
But God demonstrated his Love for us by sending His only Son to die on the cross. This paid the price for our sins - washing the slate clean. By accepting this gift, we can again have a close relationship with God and have the assurance of eternal salvation.

Dependance and Trust
Being in this relationship allows us to draw on His wisdom, direction, and protection. He helps with the stressful issues that we encounter everyday. His Word gives us direction. Prayer gives us peace and support.

He understands the relationship between husband and wife.
He understands how to raise children
He understands the importance of family
He understands what is best for my health and well being.
He understands what is important and what should be set aside.
He understands the future and helps me with decisions.
He understands the importance of caring for the elderly.

The ultimate answer to stress is to listen to God. He provides the best direction.
